The client’s wish was to achieve more storage space within their very large flat. The brief was to have a glass balustrade with a small return, where the fixing was deemed both invisible and secure. It was agreed to go for a system in which a mounting channel could be fixed at a height where it would not be exposed visually.
There are various rules and regulations when installing frameless glass. As this installation was to be fixed at a height of around 2 meters from the floor below, it had to meet all building regulations. This required structurally suitable glass in the form of 17.5mm toughened and laminated glass
The channel that holds the glass was installed before the glass, allowing it to be set into the floor at the correct level. The channel comes with a set of wedges, packing wedges, and gaskets to finish off where the glass extrudes from the channel itself.
The process took a day for the fixing of the channel and a few hours for the glass to be installed
